Lord, Teach Us to Pray

Robby Pollard, Lead Pastor

Luke 10:42

42but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

Before you serve, sit.

Before you labor, listen.

Before you work, worship.

Luke 11:1

1Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.”

Luke 3:21

21…and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying

Luke 9:18

18Now it happened that as he was praying alone, the disciples were with him. And he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”

Luke 23:34

34And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

Luke 11:2-4

Luke 11:2

2And he said to them, “When you pray, say: “Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come.

“Father” reminds us of our relationship.

Ephesians 2:1-3

1And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2…following the prince of the power of the air…3and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.

“Listen to me, we belong to God. Every one of us. Lost, saved, I don’t care where you are.  We are all the children of God.”

John 8:44

44You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

John 1:12-13

12But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

Galatians 4:4-5

4But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son…5to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

Pray to the Father, in the name of the Son, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Hebrews 4:14, 16

14Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

16Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Luke 11:10-13

10For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 11What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; 12or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Luke 11:2

2And he said to them, “When you pray, say: “Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come.

Isaiah 6:3-5

3And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” 4And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. 5And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!”

Nehemiah 9:6

6“You are the LORD, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships you.

Revelation 4:9-11

9And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 11“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”

Revelation 5:13-14

13And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” 14And the four living creatures said, “Amen!” and the elders fell down and worshiped.
