New Identity. New Way of Living.

Robby Pollard, Lead Pastor

Your new identity demands a new way of living.

“You have died” (Col. 3:3)
“You have been raised with Christ” (Col. 3:1)
“Your life is hidden with Christ in God” (Col. 3:3)
“When Christ who is your life appears, then you will also appear with him in glory.” (Col. 3:4)

Your new identity demands a new way of living.

Colossians 3:5-11

5Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6On account of these the wrath of God is coming. 7In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. 8But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. 9Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices 10and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. 11Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.

Kill what is dead.
Colossians 3:5

5Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

Colossians 2:13

13And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,

2 Corinthians 5:17

17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Colossians 3:3

3For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Colossians 3:5

5Put to death what is earthly in you.

Kill what is dead.

Romans 7:18-19

18For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. 19For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.

Romans 7:22-23

22For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, 23but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.

Romans 7:24

24Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?

Romans 7:25-8:1

25Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

1There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:5

5Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

Sin is not a pet, it’s a predator.

Colossians 3:6-7

6On account of these the wrath of God is coming. 7In these you too once walked, when you were living in them.

“Be killing sin, or sin will be killing you.” -John Owen
