Everyone Has a Part
Robby Pollard, Lead Pastor
Nehemiah 1:3-4
3And they said to me, “The remnant there in the province who had survived the exile is in great trouble and shame. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates are destroyed by fire.” 4As soon as I heard these words I sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven.
Restoration only happens if our brokenness over “what is” is replaced by God’s vision of “what should be”.
Nehemiah 2:17-18
17…Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer suffer derision.” 18…“Let us rise up and build.” So they strengthened their hands for the good work.
The work of God requires shared vision and strong hands.
When you step out in obedience, the enemy steps up the opposition.
Nehemiah 2:20
20Then I replied to them, “The God of heaven will make us prosper, and we his servants will arise and build, but you have no portion or right or claim in Jerusalem.”

Shared vision means shared work.
“Rose up with”
(Neh 3:1)
“Next to him”
(Neh 3:2, 8, 10, 12, 17, 18)
“Next to them”
(Neh 3:2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10)
“After him”
(Neh 3:16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 27, 29, 30, 31)
“After them”
(Neh 3:23, 29)
Shared vision means shared work.
Shared work doesn’t mean the same work.
No one’s work is insignificant.

1 Corinthians 12:15-18
15If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 16And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 17If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? 18But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose.
1 Corinthians 12:20-22
20As it is, there are many parts, yet one body. 21The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,
1 Corinthians 12:23-25
23and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, 25that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.
1 Corinthians 12:26-27
26If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. 27Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.
No one’s work is insignificant.
Restoration happens when unity meets purpose.
