Robby Pollard, Lead Pastor

‍

his fame spread everywhere (Mark 1:28)

they found him and said, ‘Everyone is looking for you’ (Mark 1:37)

people were coming to him from every quarter (Mark 1:45)

they could not get near him because of the crowd (Mark 2:45)

‍

Mark 2:7

7“Why does this man speak like that? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

‍

Mark 2:16

16And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

‍

Mark 2:23-3:6

23One Sabbath he was going through the grainfields, and as they made their way, his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. 24And the Pharisees were saying to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?” 25And he said to them, “Have you never read what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were with him: 26how he entered the house of God, in the time ofAbiathar the high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those who were with him?” 27And he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28So the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.” 1Again he entered the synagogue, and a man was there with a withered hand. 2And they watched Jesus, to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him. 3And he said to the man with the withered hand, “Come here.” 4And he said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent. 5And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored. 6The Pharisees went out and immediately held counsel with the Herodians against him, how to destroy him.

‍

Mark 2:23-24

23One Sabbath he was going through the grainfields, and as they made their way, his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. 24And the Pharisees were saying to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?”

‍

John 5:8-10

8Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” 9And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked. Now that day was the Sabbath. 10So the Jews said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to take up your bed.”

‍

Mark 2:23-24

23One Sabbath he was going through the grainfields, and as they made their way, his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. 24And the Pharisees were saying to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?”

‍

Mark 2:25-26

25And he said to them, “Have you never read what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were with him: 26how he entered the house of God, in the time ofAbiathar the high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those who were with him?”

‍

Leviticus 24:9

9And it shall be for Aaron and his sons, and they shall eat it in a holy place, since it is for him a most holy portion out of the LORD’s food offerings, a perpetual due.”

‍

1 Samuel 21:6

6So the priest gave him the holy bread, for there was no bread there but the bread of the Presence, which is removed from before the LORD, to be replaced by hot bread on the day it is taken away.

‍

Mark 2:27

27And he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

‍

The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

‍

Mark 2:24

24And the Pharisees were saying to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?”

‍

Mark 2:28

28So the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”

‍

Mark 2:5

5And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

‍

Mark 2:6

6Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts,

‍

Mark 2:10-11

10But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the paralytic— 11“I say to you, rise, pick up your bed, and go home.”

‍

Mark 2:28

28So the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”

‍

Genesis 1:1

1In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

‍

Genesis 1:1-3

1In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. 3And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

‍

Exodus 19:18-19

18Now Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke because the LORD had descended on it in fire. The smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln, and the whole mountain trembled greatly. 19And as the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him in thunder.

‍

8“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

‍

Mark 2:28

‍

Mark 3:5

5And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

‍

Mark 3:5

5And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

Jesus is our Sabbath.

‍

Matthew 11:28-30

28Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

‍

Colossians 2:16-17

16Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.
